At CSA, we recognize that your shipping needs are truly unique. That’s why we’ve customized our service solutions to provide maximum flexibility for every order. Below is a comprehensive list of these tailored services.
Like many trucking companies, our goal is to keep your supply chain moving and your customers happy, and in many cases this may require a last minute change to your truck transportation order. At CSA, we've built a reputation for flexibility and personalized service; just let us know of any changes as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your request!
As much as you plan ahead, some business pickups or deliveries need to happen after hours. When they do, our drivers work overtime, as do CSA warehouse and support staff.
After hours is regarded as weekdays between 6PM and 7AM, weekends, and holidays. Standard driver wait times also apply.

A standard window of at least 3 hours for pickup and delivery is required to allow our dispatchers the ability to create the most efficient route to your location while taking other deliveries/pickups, traffic, mileage, and weather conditions into consideration. If you require specific pick up or delivery times, require our dispatchers to call ahead or provide a window of less than 3 hours the fee will apply.
You may need to make a shipment change or cancel a shipping order at the last minute. When you use CSA as your transportation company, flexibility is built into your order. As always please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or refuse pickup or delivery. The service fee is determined case by case and is required to compensate for driver time, fuel, and planning/route changes.

Both Canada and US Customs require the electronic submission of cross-border documentation through each government's respective online customs portal (ACI for northbound shipments; ACE for southbound).
The CFIA (http://inspection.gc.ca) develops and delivers programs and services designed to protect Canadians against regulated diseases and deliberate threats to the resource base. Items requiring inspection include food, animals, and plant life. CSA cannot plan for these inspections and while they may not apply to every shipment, when they do, both the truck and the driver are held up at the border until completion.
You may have a business without a dock making curbside access your only option for pick up and delivery. Not to worry, our drivers can easily handle your freight to or from the truck to the curb.

As a trucking company CSA's disposal services are limited, but if absolutely necessary we can make disposal arrangements.
If needed, CSA can provide additional loading and
unloading
assistance for pickups and deliveries. Please note this is subject to assistance requirements.
CSA has allocated standard driver wait times to serve your loading and unloading requirements.
The FDA (http://fda.gov) is responsible for protecting public health by assuring the safe and secure transport of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, US food supplies, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation, as well as by regulating the distribution of tobacco products. CSA cannot plan for these inspections and while they may not apply to every shipment, when they do the truck and driver are help up at the border until completion.
Freight containing dangerous goods or hazardous materials pose significant challenges due to the elevated risks and restrictions associated with the transport and handling of these materials.
CSA is primarily a dry-van carrier but we can provide heated services based on availability and current market rates.
Special arrangements are possible should a driver or vehicle need to make an overnight stay.
Many of CSA's city units are equipped with a liftgate or tailgate. A liftgate is a motorized platform affixed to the back of some trucks that raises and lowers cargo between the truck and the ground. When the shipping or receiving location does not have a loading dock, manual loading or unloading is necessary.

This type of location will usually restrict access to trucks during normal business hours. Generally this could be the case if the establishment:
Is not open to the general walk-in public during normal business hours, does not have assistance available for loading/unloading, does not have access to a loading dock or platform, requires a smaller truck for pickup or delivery, or is a site that is gated, guarded, or secure
Examples include but are not limited to the following: Casinos, Hotels, Churches, Construction sites, Country clubs, Fairs/carnivals, Farms/ranches, Hospitals, Individual mini storage units, Malls, Marinas, Military bases/installations, Mine sites, Prisons, Schools, Amusement parks, Utility stations/pumping stations.
Examples include but are not limited to the following: Casinos, Hotels, Churches, Construction sites, Country clubs, Fairs/carnivals, Farms/ranches, Hospitals, Individual mini storage units, Malls, Marinas, Military bases/installations, Mine sites, Prisons, Schools, Amusement parks, Utility stations/pumping stations.
Shipments containing handling units over 96 inches in length will be subject to the overlength surcharge. This is a one-time surcharge covering the entire shipment; it will not be applied to each unit within the shipment.
As a primarily dry-van carrier refrigerated services are not CSA's specialty, but we can source this service through our partners. The service cost is based on availability and current market rates.
When it comes to transporting your over dimensional shipment CSA can arrange a flat deck truck. If your goods require some level of protection against wind or rain, CSA can secure your freight with a tarpaulin.

Sometimes unloading a full truckload can take several hours beyond the allotted first free hour. In those cases a shipper or consignee may request CSA drop the trailer as opposed to incurring driver wait charges.
At your request, CSA is able to utilize additional straps, bars, and/or decking to further secure your shipment.
Should your goods not clear at the border crossing as a result of a customs broker or Customs official request or error, surcharges for sufferance warehouse storage and/or handling will be applicable.
In certain instances, customers may utilize CSA's dock facility to transload freight without the need of our trucking transportation service.
CSA is able to provide extra labour to load/unload, reload, segregate, and/or palletize your freight if required.
Some shipments will require after-hours warehouse labour services.

CSA can provide pallets/skids for your shipments should you not have access to your own.
Shrink Wrap Polyethylene or a similar substance is used to envelope (wrap) several units securing them as a single pack for transport, or to secure units to the pallet. CSA can provide shrink wrap for your distribution orders and/or for your freight as needed.
This storage fee will apply to any freight held in CSA’s possession due to the act or omission of the consignor, consignee, or owner, or for customs clearance or inspection, where CSA is not at fault. This includes, but is not limited to, shipments that are unable to be delivered, refused, returned, rejected, or held at CSA's premises awaiting further instruction.
